Kristaps Porzingis is a center and power forward of Boston Celtics and Latvia National Basketball Team. He was born in Liepaja, Latvia on 2 August 1995.
Euro League Success
Porzingis started his professional journey with Sevilla, Spain in 2012. He was confidently ascending through the ranks to become a pivotal player for the senior team by 2013. His great progress culminated in winning the EuroCup Basketball Rising Star award in 2015. He made history as the youngest recipient of the award at just 19 years old.
The following summer, he transitioned to the NBA after declaring for the draft. Porzingis was chosen as the fourth overall pick by the New York Knicks.
NBA Debut
In New York, Porzingis was viewed as a cornerstone for the team’s future and earned recognition as an All-Star in 2018. However, clashes with the management prompted his trade to the Dallas Mavericks in 2019. In Dallas, he faced challenges with injuries and inconsistent performance, leading to another trade in 2022, this time to the Washington Wizards. Despite initial setbacks, Porzingis rebounded in Washington, but was then traded to the Boston Celtics in 2023, as part of the Wizards’ strategic rebuilding efforts.

On 23 June 2023, Porziņģis joined the Boston Celtics in a trade with the Wizards. He debuted for the team on 25 October 2023, scoring 30 points, eight rebounds, and four blocks against the New York Knicks. His 30-point debut set a Celtics record for the highest score in a debut. Throughout the season, he showcased his talent, earning Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors once.

Older brother of Kristaps, Janis Porzingis, born 13 July 1982, was a professional basketball player. He played in a number of European clubs during his career and later became an agent of his brother.
