French Open WTA Tour Roland Garros 2024 tournament goes on without any big sensations so far. The tournament s frequently interrupted by rain, therefore many games are delayed.

The defending champion Iga Swiatek had the hardest resistance to date in her second round battle against Naomi Osaka. Naomi is trying to regain her usual ranking in the Tour.

After the three set match Iga addressed the audience in her post game interview. She explained that the noise during the play is distractive and asked the spectators to support the players between the plays.

The match between Swiatek and Osaka had too many empty seats on the stands. The organizers of the tournament were heavily criticized for putting this match in the evening session instead of the night slot, which attract more spectators.

Iga Swiatek won three French Open tournaments in the last four years. She is a known clay specialist. Swiatek will face her biggest opponent on the road to the title at the semi final stage. Coco Gauff is going strong and the battle is promising to be epic.

Iga just won a game against Coco in Rome two weeks ago. It was the semi final as well, in the straight sets (6-4, 6-3). Gauff shouldn’t have any problems against Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto in the fourth round.

Fifth seeded Marketa Vondrousova from Czechia 🇨🇿, the winner of last year Wimbledon can stay on the way of the plans described above. Vondrousova is facing Iga in the quarter finals. She’s also going strong and lost only one set in the competition so far.

In the other half of the draw we can potentially see the battle between Ukrainian Elina Svitolina who keeps her grinding to get to the top ten of the WTA rankings against Rybakina from Kazakhstan.

All the final stage action of Roland Garros 2024 is taking place next week with the final on Saturday. Great way to occupy our time prepping for soccer Euro 2024 in Germany which starts the week after.
