Celtics are considered to be the favourites in this year NBA Finals by the sportbooks. However it doesn’t mean much to me. Sport is unpredictable. Dallas Mavericks vs Boston Celtics NBA 2024 Finals doubly so. That’s the Series where one player who loses confidence, can’t make the shot this night or finds trouble guarding his player can lose the game for the whole team.

Social media seems to be almost sure Mavs gonna win. Bets are also mostly placed on them as per reports.

Anyhow, here is my take why Celtics have strong chances and can win these Series.

Celtics Gained Momentum

Boston had way more confident path to the Finals. Celtics lost only two games in playoffs with a sweep of Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals. Mavs on the other had quite exhausting series against Nuggets and Timberwolves.

Celtics Had Extra Rest

Celtics had ten days to prepare to the Finals, while Mavs had seven days, which hopefully is enough. Also there is a small chance this extra rest to be a down side for Celtics if they lose their pace.

Return of Kristaps Porzingis

Kristaps Porzingis recovered after the injury and is expected to join the team in Game 1 of the Dallas Mavericks vs Boston Celtics NBA 2024 Finals. Whether he will join the game as a starter or will come from the bench to substitute Al Horford, he is expected to add the strength to the team.

Luka’s Lack of Consistency

While Luka Doncic won many games for Mavs in these playoffs, he also had games where he struggled with his shot having below or way below 40 field goal percentage. Such as games 2 and 3 against OKC Thunder.

Inconsistency Of Other Mavs Players

I’m confident about Kyrie’s performance, but Mavs had to rely on other players to win the games. Some games were secured by phenomenal performance by P.J. Washington and Dereck Lively II. However these guys not always show up, which can affect teams results.
