Second event of Sunshine Double after Indian Wells 2024, Miami Open 2024 is starting this week. The qualification round is already on the way. The second round, where all seeded player starred to play is scheduled for Friday, 22.

Iga Swiatek

in WTA Tour world number one Iga Swiatek will try to become a second woman in history to win both Double Sunshine in the same year twice. She already has this achievement in 2022. The first player to gain this result was Steffi Graf in 1994 and 1996.

Simona Halep

This tournament will be the first action for former world number one Simona Halep since US Open 2022. The Court of Arbitration for Sport officially reduced her doping ban from four years to nine month. It stated she didn’t consciously take a banned substance.

After the decision was made she immediately received the wild card position from Miami Open 2024 organizers. In the first round of the tournament she faces Paula Badosa from Spain.

Maria Sakkari

Runner-up of Indian Wells 2024 Maria Sakkari receives Bye in the first round. She will potentially face Dayana Yastremska and Jelena Ostapenko at later stages of the tournament. Maria was showing consistent, accurate and powerful play required to stay on the Top 10. It will be fascinating to watch if she can keep the great play ahead of Grand Slam tournaments.
